Blue Sapphire 0.55ct

This natural blue sapphire was cut from material mined in the Ratnapura gem gravels of Sri Lanka and displays a bright cornflower blue with lively face-up colour and good sparkle in daylight, with slight zoning typical of mined rough. The stone weighs 0.55 ct. Hand-cut locally into a round cut, with tidy facet layout, with light returning strongly across the crown and table. No heat applied. Some natural texture inside, including fine silk, which is what you expect from Sri Lankan material. Good face-up colour and depth; works as a centre stone in a ring or pendant.
